Up the Yangtze
Tonight we’ll join Prof. Val Franco for a look at the construction of the world’s largest power station, China’s Three Gorges Dam. The massive scale of this incredible project, completed nine years ago this July, in an area formerly known for its beauty, has wreaked havoc on the surrounding environment while displacing over 1.3 million people from nearby communities. How does China deal with its natural resources, cultural sites, citizens & landscape, as it rushes towards increased shipping capacity and industrial domination? In Mandarin & English with English subtitles.
