The Jewish Museum Virtual Tour of Afterlives: Recovering the Lost Stories of Looted Art

During World War II, untold numbers of artworks and cultural property were stolen by Nazi forces. After the war, an estimated 1 million artworks and 2.5 million books were recovered. This special exhibition chronicles the stories of the objects looted from Jewish families during the war, including works by Marc Chagall, Paul Cézanne, Franz Marc, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and Camille Pissarro. Led by Jenna Weiss, Assistant Director of Public Programs at the Jewish Museum
