Celebrating LGBTQ+ History Month: A Conversation with Activist and Leader Karla Jay

October 29, 2021 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Join us as we sit down for a conversation with author, activist and iconic community leader Karla Jay. Leading this conversation is Hugh Ryan, author of When Brooklyn was Queer. Hugh and Karla will discuss Karla’s early start in activism and her leadership in the Gay Liberation Front and Lavender Menace. They’ll take a deeper dive into the movements and culture of the radical ’60’s and ’70’s, touching upon the intersectionality of causes (black power, feminism, gay liberation) and controversial institutions like the Women’s House of Detention. Your experiences, thoughts and questions welcome, too, as always.
