New York City’s Land Art Projects
April 2, 2021 @ 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
During the 1960s, Land Art or Earth Art emerged as a new conceptual approach to art making, reconsidering the values of nature, time and space in an urban setting as well as the possibilities to create and display art outside of the museum setting, questioning expectations in terms of material, durability, physical and engagement.
Join us when tour guide extraordinaire Sylvia Laudien-Meo returns to DOROT to show us many of the projects that can still be found throughout NYC, some permanently installed as Public Art or in galleries. We’ll also look at others that were ephemeral but hold a distinctive spot in the city’s cultural history and memory.
