• Somers Library Book Club

    Virtual Presentation

    June Title: Transcendent Kingdom.
Join us to discuss the book Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi.

Transcendent Kingdom is a deeply moving portrait of a family of Ghanaian immigrants ravaged by depression and addiction and grief - a novel about faith, science, religion, love. Exquisitely written, emotionally searing, this is an exceptionally powerful follow-up to Gyasi's phenomenal debut Homegoing. Copies of the book are available at the Somers Library; call to reserve your copy. New members are very welcome!

Please register on the online calendar at www.somerslibrary.org in order to have access to this meeting. You will receive an invitation prior to the start of the webinar.

  • Somers Library Launches a Classics Book Club!

    Virtual Presentation

Have you ever asked yourself “I wish I had read that one!” or “I should read that one again!”? Book clubs are increasing, and reading can be a safe and productive activity during COVID. But why would you read or reread a book title termed classic? In 1986, Italo Calvino wrote: “A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say.”

This is your opportunity to join us as we start a new bimonthly book group on Tuesday nights beginning September 21. Our list of reads begins with Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations. Copies of books to be discussed will be reserved for members of the group. Call the library to reserve your copy.
