Make em Laugh: A History of Comedy at the Movies

December 18, 2020 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Since motion pictures were invented, making audiences laugh has been one of the industry’s chief box office attractions. Join us to look back at everyone from skilled acrobatic comedians like Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, to the verbally dexterous Marx Brothers and W. C. Fields, and from screwball, romance and social satire moments to over-the-top dark comedy and gross-out teen comedy, too. Together, we’ll look at movie comedy highlights from the last 125 years, with examples from Hollywood’s funniest films. Led by Brian Rose, retired professor of Communications and Media Studies at Fordham University College at Lincoln Center
